BOIL ADVISORY
Natchitoches Water System
PWS ID# 1069007
Natchitoches Parish, Louisiana
Date: February 17, 2021
For Immediate Release
The following areas within the City of Natchitoches Distribution System are experiencing a low pressure problem on February 17, 2021.
- GRAND ECORE ROAD TO HWY 6 EAST
- PAYNE SUBDIVISION
- OAK GROVE COMMUNITY
- HWY 3191 AND HWY 504
- JOHNSON CHUTE ROAD AREA
This drop in system pressure below 20 pounds has been caused by the winter weather conditions we have experienced over the past several days placing a strain on the City’s water system due to frozen water lines and broken pipes resulting in a loss of water pressure.
Because of this drop in system pressure, the water within our water distribution system is of questionable microbiological quality.
Therefore, as a precaution, the City of Natchitoches Distribution System is issuing a BOIL ADVISORY effective immediately for the areas listed above. This BOIL ADVISORY is to remain in effect until rescinded by the Water System.
It is recommended that all consumers in the above mentioned area disinfect their water before consuming it (including fountain drinks), making ice, brushing teeth, or using it for food preparation or rinsing of foods by the following means:
Boil water for one (1) full minute in a clean container. The one minute starts after the water has been brought to a rolling boil. (The flat taste can be eliminated by shaking the water in a clean bottle or pouring it from one clean container to another, or by adding a pinch of salt to each quart of water that is boiled.)
Again, please be sure to disinfect your own water prior to consumption until you have been advised otherwise.
PLEASE REDUCE YOUR WATER CONSUMPTION IF AT ALL POSSIBLE AT THIS TIME.
This Boil advisory does not affect the remainder City of Natchitoches Water Distribution System.
