The City is seeking public comments on the project, which will serve to rehabilitate Richardson Park and provide accessible recreation facilities for residents of all abilities. The City proposes to add a walking trail, complete with LED lighting, a new pavilion near the park’s front entrance, an inclusive playground for families of all abilities, ADA-compliant benches, new trash receptacles, pedestal-mount barbecue grills, and a full basketball court for the youth.

In addition, the project aims to add parking spaces to aid in traffic congestion on the streets surrounding the park, removal of blighted structures, and the addition of upgraded bathroom facilities. The total cost of the project is approximately $400,000. Residents are encouraged to provide comments on the project by emailing ngray@natchitochesla.gov or by contacting the Mayor’s office by phone. All resident feedback is appreciated. The grant application will be submitted on Friday, January 7, 2022.
